Well known Kannada science and technology writer and music critic Prof. G.T Narayana Rao passed away this morning. He used to write science for the masses. His writings were appreciated for its style and simplicity used in language. Its a great loss for Kannada science literature world.
I got to know more about G.T.N after viewing podcast posted at Sampada and his views on technical writing had really moved me. I would like to follow his path and try my best to make technology reachable to all. That will be a small tribute to Prof. G.T.N from my end.

self a student in Govt Arts & Science college, Bangalore 1965-1969. Prof: GTN was Maths lecturer and also Major in 12MYS NCC. Trekking, Rock climbing etc Trek to Kudremukh in Western Ghats.
How he got selected in to the Army, because the other candidate asked the the authorities as how he could get out of the Army and hence not selected. Got bored with the innumerable parades, resigned and became our lecturer
In the course of the maths lecture he would drift away and tell us about this and that.
Definition of a map
No definition would satisfy but they (in defence) would say
a Map is a Map.
He also lectured and contributed articles to the Sudha Weekly about Astronomical star grazing
He would do the trek etc along with us College NCC Cadets.
He would travel by Bicycle.
