61st Celebration of Independence

India is celebrating its 61st independence day on 15th August. Today I recalled my school days where in we used to talk about Independence day, freedom fighters, sacrifice and lot many things on stage. Till date we just talk or “celebrate” this day by taking a day off from work and spending time watching TV or spending money in shopping mall’s and what not isn’t it?

We are still living in a “Developing Country” where in we have got all that power required to be a “Super power” on this earth. We have spent more than half a century with the “Freedom” earned by our people, we all have the potential which is required for taking our country to the next level. But are we doing something? Are we at least asking our self  a question, “What I can do for my nation?” .

It’s time to think and start working towards making a difference. It’s possible to help the nation in suppressing the riots, ugly political games which are being played by state and central governments, poverty and lot many things. Hey it just takes a little effort from your end and you can  really “Do something for the nation”. To pay the tribute to those men and women who gave their life and who are giving life in the LOC, start doing something and that will the true celebration of “FREEDOM“.

Do something about it TODAY

    Shiv,

Excellent writeup!! If 1% of Indian Youth start thinking the above way, no doubt we are little far from making our Country a “Real Global Super Power”.

Talking of the Day, 15th August is a Closed Holiday for Educational Institutions but still they got to attend the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and pay tribute to all the lives that were sacrificed to get us freedom. I personally think, this is the place where actually we got to plant a seed of Patriotism and fine tune our kids and youths to be held themselves responsible in grafting the future of India.

Further, since Bangalore is fully loaded with MNCs who are busy “exploiting” our “youths” in “serving someone else”, they rarely are let to celebrate our National Festivals. Have seen many of my friends working in MNCs are well aware of US Holidays than Indian! How fare is this on the part of the Management? Is there any way that we can make it a practice to get involved in our National Festivals irrespective of the clients abroad??

I being a Gazetted Officer in the Govt. of Karnataka, never have missed National Festivals and its a “rule” made by Govt. that Nationals Festivals are “working days” and any Govt. Servant missing the Flag Hoisting Ceremony (on Jan26 and Aug15) will be subjected to strict disciplinary action. Rules are just made and the common concept is that “Rules are made to Break!!”.

Such being the scenario in Educational Institutions, Govt. and Pvt. sectors, where can we expect the wave of freshness to start from?

    Prashanth,

Nice way of putting your views. Hmm, Ture, Patriotism should be seeded in children and the young who are the future of India.

:) Regarding MNC’s not really every one forgets Indian holidays. Every one is eager to take offs for any reason. I have added a new post today and I don’t know how much you agree with my points. I feel our time is very precious for the country and we got to use it wisely. Be it a Government or Private institute there is a responsibility on our shoulders. If we take care of that don;t you think it a different kind of celebration. Do work on such day for the country as we work all other 6 days (1 days extra for me ;) ) for our bread and jam.

We can start from where ever we are, there is lots that needs to be taken care where we belong to and set examples for others to reciprocate the same. Hope you agree with this.

    Shiv
