Debian Lenny - beta testing - Kannada fonts

I have got my hands on Debian Lenny Beta DVD. Testing it while working on lot many things. Here is my first report on Language support. I wish all this works out-of-box when they release Lenny in coming month.

By default many of the true-type fonts are not provided/listed in Debian lenny default repo’s

You can find kannada deb file from the following link :

http://packages.debian.org/lenny/all/ttf-kannada-fonts/download

Download it :

wget http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/ttf-indic-fonts/ttf-kannada-fonts_0.5.4_all.deb

and Install it :

# dpkg -i ttf-kannada-fonts_0.5.4_all.deb
Selecting previously deselected package ttf-kannada-fonts.
(Reading database … 96233 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking ttf-kannada-fonts (from ttf-kannada-fonts_0.5.4_all.deb) …
Setting up ttf-kannada-fonts (1:0.5.4) …
Updating fontconfig cache for /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-kannada-fonts
Regenerating fonts cache… done.

Now, logout and login back or restart your browser to start using these fonts.

nJoy!
