When friends meet on-line/off-line its very common to use the regional language/mother tongue. While sending email/sms/chat messages all the messages used to be typed in English due to many reasons. Typing the content in regional language on computers requires fonts and the input methods. Even while using fonts, there are few more issues. When people use bi-lingual/ASCII fonts, the other person who reads that message is also forced to have the same font on his computer. To avoid this issue, you can use Unicode fonts so that other person can read this info on any other system which has got Unicode fonts on his system and it does not force you to have the same font on your system. These days Unicode fonts are widely used on all operating systems used on variety of hardware.
Now, you might have been typing Kannada lines on your system in English (We call it Kanglish i.e. Kannada in English). Is it is possible to convert that to Kannada Unicode font? Yes, it is possible. When you don’t have the inputs methods installed on your system and when you don’t have the proprietary fonts you can use the transliterates available on-line in the Internet. This will let you type the content easily in form of Kanglish (in case you’re trying to type Kannada in English) but the output box will convert the input to Unicode Kannada, which can then be copied and pasted in to chat, email, your web pages etc.

Its very hard to read the content in “Kanglish’ format. When we know how to read and write in your own language, we always find it easy to read the content in the same language script. I have always ignored reading many emails just because they were in Kanglish. I found this tool very useful as it lets me translate Kanglish to Kannada script. That too in Unicode. There are lot many other transliterate tools introduced by Quillpad, Google. You can translate the content to your own language as and when you type something into the text box.
