Unable to run yum upgrade?
You might have tried upgrading your OS just like me and broken rpm packages on the server. You find the find the following error on screen when you try using yum after that mess up.
# yum update python
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:No module named rpm
Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.It’s possible that the above module doesn’t match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.3.4 (#1, Dec 11 2007, 05:27:57)

To resolve this issue, you need to manually download the rpm packages and upgrade the ones which are on your server already.
I downloaded all packages and dependencies which were required to a folder. Once they were in place, ran an upgrade.
# rpm -Uvh *.rpm

Yum starts working again.
