Comments on: Reliance NetConnect and Ubuntu 9.10

hey thanks for reply,
i had ordered that version earlier and now the connection is not so fast to download the new version.
i am kinda new to this platform plz tell me what exactly you mean by ‘dmesg’, however i tried setting up an account through “network connections” after entring all details like connection no. , user name , password, i also ticked the “available to all users” and “connect automatically” but still the network is not getting connected.
some other websites say that installing gnome-ppp make the work very easy, i have downloaded but the file was corrupt, i am not able to find a proper download file.
help me out

Deep, check dmesg when you insert the device. Also, you can try enabling the net connect account through network button on top. Setup a mobile network connection. Also, why using 9.10 when you have a stable latest version 10.04…

hi,
i have just installed ubuntu karmic 9.10. i am using it on my dell inspiron laptop. i have huawei EC325 dongle provided by BSNL. the device doesnot appear in the ‘my computer’ panel, nor does it show on places,
i am not able to connect to internet, well on the same laptop i have xp installed and the same works good.
please help!!

Hi,yes i did that.when i type sudo wvdialmi get
the following error
–> Warning: inherited section [Modem0] does not exist in wvdial.conf
–> Cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0: No such file or directory
–> Cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0: No such file or directory
–> Cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0: No such file or directory

Murthy, its not enoguh.. which laptop you;re using? Did you try pulling that netconnect out and then putting it back live while you’re tailing /var/log/messages to see what happens?

Which distro you’re using? Please give s some more details. The output is not talking about the modem which has been detected. Can you put the output of lsusb?
