Here we start celebrating festivals for the year 2008. Today is Makara Sankranthi. Every year we celebrate this festival on Jan 14th or 15th without fail. Across India this festival is celebrated in different names like Pongal etc.
I really have no much interest in celebrating festivals. We normally don’t give much importance to celebrate festivals at home. My entire family is into business and they find the festive season to be too busy to give some personal space for celebrations. I remember celebrating Ganesha festival 8-9 years back and we stopped celebrating that festival also abruptly. As I grew up and started working, work place became one of my favorite places to spend the festival holidays.
I remember reading about Spirituality at work place in one of my management course material some time back. Which did mention about the importance of Spirituality at work place. I also got to hear from one of my friend about the “Bell” which they hang in Pizza Hut shops as a sign of spirituality. In my current company we get to celebrate various festival. Recently we did celebrate Id and Xmas, oh yes New year too. But celebrations of ‘Vijaya Dashami” at my previous work place are my all time favorite. Each staff used to put his own personal interest in decorating the institute for the festival and all of us used to have a gala time after pooja. I will never forget those days and I miss all that fun today.
One good thing about this year’s Sankranthi is that, I will be spending my time sharing knowledge with 20 new techs who have been recruited into our company.
Hey “Shankranthi” bring “Kranthi” in our lives. Brighten up our world. Bring in more prosperity. Let every one lead a rich life in 2008.
