True, a well known government transportation corporation tries to mimic the Volvo standards. I found an old Pushpak bus in Majestic - Electronic City route, route no. 356 C on Friday showing off its “Value added” A/C service on city roads. I couldn’t believe that its not a original Volvo bus which I used to use every day until I stepped into the bus. I thought it might be a new design. But it turned out to be something else once its engine started.
BMTC Safe, Secure Punctual as it says on its websites main page really has got more than than when you peep into its services.
Personally I like the public transport as I need not worry about driving on a busy day when I have got to relax before and after moving out from work . And did like it much more when BMTC started its Volvo bus service during last summer. Today its very well known through out India and many other states have started providing such services.
BMTC has been a role model for providing good public transport service for years now, though there have been cases where in BMTC drivers have been charged for rash driving and this year there, have been many cases where in few died on roads and I got to see many accidents caused by public transport buses personally. Why show off old bus as NEW and why tear the pockets of public just for few more bucks? Are you guys trying to loot us bright sun out there?
Didn’t find many safety measures found in other Volvo buses used by BMTC, Engine sound was horrible for ears inside the bus, rash driving (Driver can surely race in F1, catch him), there were no low level steps as you can find in new Volvo buses (It was a promise from BMTC) where did it go? Ventilator was found to be open and I could see the bring sun rays coming inside the bus right inside the A/C bus. You would have felt that you are sitting in 19th century vehicle after checking its pickup.
Why can’t you people take the help of new engineering students and talents available in the city to bring in new technology and designs for buses to make the city look great with its infrastructure? Take a positive steps to create new instead of influencing others to do such things.
Commuters are not uneducated! They can easily make out what you do. Please do care about our opinions and ask us if we can help you out. Why BMTC is so stingy? Do you still want me to recommend public transport? Do change the way you think and continue providing the service promised and for gods sake don’t bring in old buses on roads. Trash them right away.
My Kannada article is here
Few pics of interiors of duplicate Volvo bus can be found here.
