Big Bang – In search of the beginning

Current Affairs, History, Science, Technical | 0 comments

What happened billions of years ago? Man is now trying to find an answer for the same. It took 14 years for him to prepare for this moment.

Deep under the earth scientists from 80+ countries are going to launch worlds extensive physics experiment in history to understand the creation of our Universe. It is all set to happen at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) near Geneva. Twenty seven kilometers circular tunnel has been prepared which crosses Switzerland and France for Large Hadron Collider particle accelerator. 10 billion dollars are being spent on this experiment.  This experiment is set to through light on evidence of extra dimensions, invisible “dark matter” and an elusive particle called “Higgs boson“. YouTube and other online video streaming sites are filled with videos related to LHC while there is a big question on many peoples face “Will the world end today?“.

India @ Hadron Collider

30 Indian scientists are also part of this experiment. India has made substantial technological contributions to this project. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) will be web casting the event in Geneva through its bandwidth.  It is also said that many components being fabricated by Indian Industry and supplied to CERN along with the contributions towards construction of the LHC accelerator itself.  Raja Ramanna Center for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) at Indore led Indian laboratories have contributed substantially towards these efforts. They have met the standards of precisions set by International organizations and also followed stringent time-line which is commendable.
