Café Coffee Day is a chain of coffee shops in India having it’s head quarters in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. A division of Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Ltd. (ABCTCL), it is commonly known as Coffee Day or CCD for young generation.
I got a chance to sip my favorite drink Kaapi Nirvana with couple of my friends during the weekend. Its an Indian coffee that won the silver medal in the world Barista Championship,2002.
I don’t freak out in such cool joints but I found it a great idea of building such joints (It has worked out for many Cafe’s around the world too, For example: Starbucks in US) as hangout points for young and making it a successful business model.
Though every one can’t afford to spend in such places, its quite common to find CCD’s filled with people today in cities like Bangalore. One reason might be due to IT/BT crowd which finds it easy to splurge the money earned for partying during the weekends.
CCD’s gives you enough space to sit with your friends and chit-chat for hours, provided you order coffee. It gives you an air conditioned roof, lit up bright with lights and sound music in the background which at times turns out to be too loud. I had read about the operation of such Cafe’s while reading “How Starbucks saved my life?”
It was nice to sit and have coffee with friends without much thoughts of work atleast on a last day of the week. A lot more can happen over a Cup of Coffee.
