Legendary Kannada Sugama Sangeetha singer C Aswath has passed away this morning (29-dec-1939-29-12-2009) creating a big void in Kannada Music world.
His voice is still ringing in our hears. His style of singing Bhaavegeete (Expressive poetry) and Janapada Geete (Flok songs) always used captivate his listeners. He took the poems of our greatest poets to common people. Santa Shishunala Sharif’s composition is one of his classical works. Its unimaginable to think that, his work can now only be listened to/seen on tapes and videos and there won’t be any more energetic performances by this legend on stage.
He entered Kannada Film industry through “Kaakana Kote” movie. Here is a song from that movie.
Santa ShishunaaLa Sharif’s favorite song: Kodagaana Koli nungitta.
Rasika Baaro team had organized “Chaitrodaya – G S Shivarudrappa Kaavyavaachana” program on 27th December, 09 at Ravindra Kalakshetra. Renowned names from various different fields attended this event and read out poems written by Raashtra Kavi G S Shivarudrappa to pay a much needed tribute. It was a great pleasure and treat. Got a chance to listen to few of my favorite poems written by GSS. GSS documentary was also played at the end of the event.
I got a chance to live tweet the happenings of this event and you can find the same on my twitter account https://twitter.com/omshivaprakash . I have tried my best to tag the postings with #chitrodaya and #kannada.
My HTC tattoo allowed me to record few moments of this event and here I present them for you. Listen to them and enjoy…
Its too hard to talk over the phone while driving and that too within the city. While I visited autoshop few days back to get my car audio system checked for a minor fix, I found this wonderful product called Smart Talk designed and developed by iGadgets India.
This device lets me get hooked on to my phone via bluetooth. You can sync the phone book to quickly start making calls. It comes with two microphones, a hear phone for privacy (if required ), FM channel to use car audio system, one touch dial and receive calls, gives an option to record and play the call etc. Call quality and clarity is good. Motorola phones seem to be having problems with phone book sync but Nokia just works. Rear view mirror is an attachment on top of your existing one. Its comes with day and night lens and quite wide to give clear picture.
It costs 5000 rs.. bit heavy on pocket but worth spending the money on such device if you drive a lot within the city.
