There was some happiness, sadness and few moments filled with sorrow. It was a joyful year altogether, brought in many new things to our lives and took back few things too. It end in just in an hour from now. Leaving all those memories in me for rest of my life. I miss a couple of close friends who have travelled to other places. I really miss them, but this is a small globe and their presence is felt by me on a daily basis. I welcome those who have just found me doing funny things every day.

2007, one of the finest and fastest years of my life. Many things did happen and I learnt many things too. I’m waiting for the new year to come and take me along with its journey anxiously, so that I can explore this world much more. Oh! I need to find that creator who created this world and the living things in which I see the hope of betterment, joy and peace and ask him a small favour to teach me how to paint a small world. At least a small virtual one. Looking forward to see the world without wars, betrayals. A great time where in every living thing in this world can cherish and live happily for ever.

Being optimistic and positive with the same spirits to reach the hights set by the blue Sky and touch one of those stars. I’m not dreaming or living in an imaginative world. I want my world to be better and safer place to live.

Let this new year bring new surprises. Come on, keep a step ahead face the new challenges and “You” can surely win the race.

Welcome a brand new year with smile on your face… making a resolution? think twice, you got to make it happen. I have few things in mind which I shall not disclose. I will let it happen and bring you some more surprises this year.

ಹೊಸ ವರ್ಷದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು

Have a great time and a happy new year!!!

Keep your mind open , else you might lose it !

Its a story of a man who started his life all over again and started living happily at a CoffeeShop in one of the World’s biggest city Newyork. He finds his job better, gets back his happiness, children, benefits which was not given even for his high position at JWT (J. Walter Thompson Company). Finds meaning of “Respect”, “Dignity” and many more words which he had never bothered to understand. He works in a place where there is diversity, which he used to hate throughout his life time. More than all this he was diagnosed with a “Brain Tumour”.

How Starbucks Saved My Life

by, Michael Gill Gates

This books reminds me of a vachana which I had read in my School written in 12th Century by “Jagajyothi Basaveshwara“.

“kaayakave kailaasa” (ಕಾಯಕವೇ ಕೈಲಾಸ) or “Work is Worship”.

We does not understand importance of many things in our life. We learn it hard way. When we accept the changes and get along with the new life we learn many things which helps us in leading a better and different life altogether.

This book did gave me many lessons on People Management and Organizational Behaviour. Well written and a great job by Michael . Read it once you many find it enlightening and find more than what I have mentioned here.

More about Michael, Starbucks, His Interview etc is available here

It has been a while since I had applied for BSNL B-phone + BroadBand connection. Even after getting the phone line, modem etc, I had no luck enjoying the services for 3 weeks. I found that many of my friends also did face the same issue. BSNL officials kept on telling me that they have resolved my PPoE “Password”issue but it got resolved yesterday. Thank god and BSNL ;)

DataOne

Its quick and easy to get BSNL connections these days. They have also stared receiving your request via SMS. I found the service to be stable  and reliable. Don’t worry if you are not able to get Airtel connections, BSNL is always there anywhere in Bangalore…

Server security is always a threat when you have shell access open for users. Especially in shared hosting environments.

  • How you like your remote users to be logged into your servers?
  • Are you afraid of giving shell access?
  • Does they require to just have ftp read only access?
  • Do you like chroot to the user for better security?

Use scponly, best solution for you. Its an alternative for shell. Make your remote users login via “sftp” clients. Its nothing but “ftp over ssh” (secure ftp). But we had no alternative other than giving shell access to such users. At times bash shell !. It works as a wrapper and found to be rocking on many SSH clients.
More about scponly : (from its wiki)
A typical usage of scponly is in creating a semi-public account not unlike the concept of anonymous login for ftp. This allows an administrator to share files in the same way an anon ftp setup would, only employing all the protection that ssh provides. This is especially significant if you consider that ftp authentications traverse public networks in a plaintext format.

Check this nice utility, its simple to install and use.

Nandidurga or Nandi Hills is very famous weekend spots for Bangalorians. I don’t want to write up all the history here, read the Wikipedia article. I had never got a chance to visit this place before as my family is not used to picnics etc. and even my school/college days were so “bore” or they were dedicated to studies and house hold chores.

Saturday I got a chance to visit this place with my couple of friends Sharat and Prasad. It was one of the finest evenings I have spent outside work place or home. Beauty of hills, forest, chilling air and the art of the creator on sky did make our evening much more wonderful. Apart from these, there are remains of Tippu’s fort, few temples and resorts for your retreat.

It was “So Close but Yet So Far Away, I made my way this weekend to one of the nearest Hill stations. What are you planning to do for yours ;) ?
