Festivals! The very word brings a smile on our face. A time to set aside your worries and other negative feelings. A time when the cultural diversity of India sheds that ‘diversity’ feeling and gets into the celebration mood. This is why festivals have become an integral part of our life , because they bring into life everything positive: positive thoughts, happiness, moments of togetherness, etc.
Each festival carries a message which reminds us as to why we need celebrations. A festival marks the start of something new, a feeling, a value added to our busy lives. Festivals let us cut those strings attached to life, our hectic lives, at least for a while…, letting us soak in that feeling of freedom from what we say ” everyday routine” .
But in IT , the strings that once bound us to technological ignorance and custom-made softwares are no longer there! Yes, the shackles have been broken ! … and many across the world are enjoying this new found freedom. Many are taking part in a global festival, a festival that has taken many people into it’s strong grip, a festival known as “Gnu/LINUX Install Fest” !!!
“We” ,the people celebrating “Gnu/LINUX habba” have that burning urge to make people all over the Bangalore take part in this technological festival. Putting it in our own words ” Bringing the ultimate technological bliss to people..a never before freedom to use technology and customize it to your needs ” is what we need in this world today. Why tear your precious hair over stubborn “blue screens” and we’ll-drive-you-crazy third-party softwares.
This new found freedom let’s us stay away from piracy, because in this festival, ” Software goodies” come without any strings attached. Now, why don’t we tell everyone how do participate in this festival and enjoy the freedom that’s there in the world of computing at present.
This idea took shape in our mind a long time back . But its Srinidhi who really made it buzz in our ears and the idea of Gnu/Linux habba popped in. Hpn and Sampada community sounded the gong across Banglore and rest of the world to start the preparations. Guess what we have volunteers from Mysore too.
The response which we got from every one, has filled us with the strength required to take this idea ahead and share our technical knowledge with community.
We are ready to hold your hands and teach you how you can use FOSS (Free and OpenSource Software) i.e. Gnu/Linux on your computer and start creating the content required for the community in your own language.
